Microsoft puts Torrevieja on the map

The mayor of Torrevieja, Pedro Hernandez Mateo announced last Saturday that Torrevieja is the chosen site for Microsoft´s new Centre for Innovation in Health, aimed at developing new initiatives and software applications in health care.  This is great news for Torrevieja and the newly opened hospital in particular, since its numerous awards and ground-breaking application of information technology clearly impressed the Microsoft research team sufficiently for it to be chosen as the test bed site.

Francisco Camps, the President of Valencia region travelled to the USA to be told the good news by Bill Gates himself and said he hoped Torrevieja will become the new reference centre in Europe for innovations in health. Representatives from Microsoft and various European Health organisations will be in town next month to meet with local officials to get the project under way.

Way to go guys! Wonder if they can do anything innovative with the food??
