Beaches & watersports

The southern Costa Blanca enjoys 300 days of sunshine every year and we have over 17kms of beaches to enjoy all year round.

Whats great about this stretch of coastline is the sheer variety of beaches: there are long strips of  manicured sandy beaches, areas of natural dunes and pine tress, and small rocky coves in between. Many of them are Blue Flag accredited and patrolled by lifeguards. From Easter to September you will also find chiringuitos (small beach bars)  serving cold beer, ice cream and light meals; many of them stay open during the evenings too.

The main tourist beaches are in Torrevieja, Guardamar, La Zenia and Campoamor.  Away from the crowds try the dunes at La Mata, the pine beach between Punta Prima and Mar Azul and the small rocky beaches of Cala Capitan and Cabo Roig. The best chiringuitos are at Mil Palmeras and Punta Prima.

The beaches are popular all year round especially at weekends  when the Spanish families descend, but out of season you can always find a quiet spot to have a picnic, finish that book or just chill with your i-pod….Daytime temperatures even in the winter can hit the mid 20´s!! If you´re anywhere near La Zenia beach at Christmas put on your Santa hat and get down there during the morning with a bottle of champagne, its a great atmosphere!!

Watersports such as jet-ski, parasailing, windsurfing and fun rides are available during the summer at the tourist beaches but for the serious stuff you have to go to the marinas in Torrevieja or, better still, head 20-30 minutes further south to the beautiful inland sea of Mar Menor. From the marina at San Pedro you can take a fishing trip,  diving or snorkelling trip or even hire your own boat and crew for the day to do whatever you want… its the prefect day out and doesn´t cost too much if you take along a few buddies!!
